The Arbor Lodge State Historical Park and Arboretum is basically a park that offers a wide array of activities to its visitors. It used to be the estate of the Morton family, best known for Julius Sterling Morton, who was the originator of Arbor Day and the former Secretary of Agriculture, and his son, Joy Morton, of the Morton Salt Company fame.

The property boasts of a 52-room neocolonial mansion with fine furnishing, including a Tiffany skylight located in the sun parlor. The 72 acre land area is also filled with various trees that came from all over the world, as the older Morton was fond of such.

The Arbor Lodge State Historical Park and Arboretum is a National Historic Landmark, as per designation in 1975.
