The Nebraska National Forest is a 142,000-acre park located in the state of Nebraska. It comprises of two ranger districts: Bessey Ranger District; and Pine Ridge Ranger District. The Bessey Ranger District is situated in Sandhills. It measures 90,000 acre in total area. It was established by Charles E. Bessey in 1902. The forest was originally intended as a national timber reserve.
The 52,000-acre Pine Ridge Ranger District, on the other hand, is located in the Pine Ridge region of NW Nebraska. The Soldier Creek Wilderness is located in the forest. There is a nursery inside this area of the park, as well. This nursery is registered to the National Register of Historic Places.
There are areas in the forest where people can set up camps. Various flora and fauna can be seen, so nature watchers will definitely enjoy their stay here.
