National Automobile Museum, also called The Harrah Collection, features cars from the dawn of the automobile age through the present day. With more than 224 antique, classic, specialty, and unfathomable one-of-a-kind cars, visitors are transported back into the sights and sounds of the past. The museum also houses a research library which features vintage owner's manuals, paint chips, restorations guides, upholstery samples and other vintage automobile items.

Though most of the cars belonged to the late casino mogul and avid car collector, Bill Harrah, the idea of the museum came only after his death. The National Automobile Museum Reno Nevada opened its doors to the public in 1989. Today, the 105,000 square foot building is located on the banks of the Truckee River and showcases rare cars from famous people like Al Jolson, Elvis Presley, Lana Turner, Frank Sinatra, James Dean, and many more.

Inside the museum, you will find period street scenes that represent the periods when the specific cars were popular. Collections of vintage clothing, accessories, and auto-related artifacts are also found throughout the museum to enhance visitor experience of all things automobile. There is also a time table which chronicles the progress of the automobile's style and technology. The National Automobile Museum also features a "Changing Exhibit Gallery" where visitors can find something new on a regular basis. Some of the past exhibits included Thomas Flyer, winner of the 1908 New York to Paris around the world race, and Alice Ramsey, who became the first woman to drive across the United States in 1909. Cars are also displayed in some cases like the 1912 Rambler 73-400 Cross-Country which was seen in the 1997 movie Titanic.

The exhibits at the National Automobile Museum are highly dramatic, affording visitors an in-depth interpretation and appreciation to the highly extensive collection. Some of the exhibits are interactive and film/audio tours are included with admission.
