Also known as the Las Vegas Zoo, the Southern Nevada Zoological and Botanical Park exists as a nonprofit zoo and botanical garden that aims to educate people about the preservation of desert animals and plants by protecting their natural habitat. Open everyday from 9 am until 5pm, the 3-acre zoo features a collection of more than 150 plant species and exotic animals such as cats, chimpanzees, emus, ostriches, wallabies, parrots, flamingos, reptiles and many more. Probably the most popular of all are the endangered Barbary Apes, which are the last ape family of its kind found in America.

Aside from the animals, the Southern Nevada Zoological and Botanical Park also features a gem display and a gift shop. Admission fee is $9 per adult and $7 for children. Money from the shop and entrance fees fund the maintenance of the park.
