The White Pine Museum was spearheaded by the Ely Business and Professional Women’s Club, involving 109 citizens who joined together for the development of the museum in White Pine County.
The museum first opened with loaned and donated exhibits from the local citizens. Incorporated in June 1960 as the White Pine County Public Museum, it received a grant in August 1961.
Today, its collection boasts of early record book that help historians research about the area and the people. It also has a mineral collection where a variety of copper ore samples, fossils of ancient marine life, petrified woods, and polished rocks can be viewed.
The Museum also has its Gift Shop where visitors can purchase history books, post cards, USGS Topographical maps, jewelry, candy, and more.
