The Benjamin Rowe house is one of its village?s museum buildings. Its history began in 1838, when farmer Benjamin Rowe made a decision to start making bricks. As a result, this Greek revival cape was constructed for his family. For almost a century, the house was passed on to different generations within the family until it was owned by Ernest Sawyer, an operator of a famous dairy in the farm, which was soon owned by Alvah Wilson and his wife, Ruth.
A few decades after, the farm?s ownership was passed on the town of Gilford. Its unique floor plan and details that remain up to the present got it included in the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places. Today, it still contains some of the furnishings from the vintage residence of Arthur Tilton and his family.
