The Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, New Hampshire is the state’s world-renowned art museum. It invites thousands of people who wanted to view its collections of numerous works of art. The museum specializes in European and American visual arts such as photographs, paintings, decorative arts and sculpture. The museum’s remarkable collections include the works of Picasso, Monet, Matisse, Calder, Andrew Wyeth, and O’Keeffe.
The museum, then known as Currier Gallery of Art, was founded in 1929. It was a donation from former New Hampshire governor Moody Currier and his wife. Although not a collector, Currier funded the establishment of the gallery. His will stated the gallery was for the “benefit and advancement of humanity.” In honor of Currier, the gallery was renamed to its present identity.
The museum is open for tours. It also has a gift shop, café and a children’s room.
