Located in Hillsborough, New Hampshire, the Franklin Pierce Homestead is the childhood home of the fourteenth US President, Franklin Pierce. It was built in 1804 by Pierce’s father and was believed to be the former president’s birth place. It is also the only existing childhood home of Pierce, as the other one now lies underwater in the Franklin Pierce Lake.
The Franklin Pierce Homestead was Pierce’s home from its construction until 1834. It received notable guests such as Daniel Webster. It was owned by the Pierce family until 1925 when the property was acquired by the state of New Hampshire.
Now operating under the Hillsborough Historical Society’s supervision as a state park, the Franklin Pierce Homestead is also a declared National Historic Landmark as of 1961.
