In Portsmouth, New Hampshire stands the two century old Governor John Langdon House, also called as the Governor John Langdon Mansion. Built in 1784 for the wealthy shipbuilder, merchant, Revolutionary War general, former New Hampshire governor, and signer of the US Constitution, John Langdon and his family, the house has been declared as a National Historic Landmark since 1974.

The Governor John Langdon House is a true symbol of the man and his family’s status in the society, especially at his time. It consists of at least two main floors and several rooms. It boasts of rococo style wood carvings in its reception rooms.

The Governor John Langdon House may have been owned by several other occupants over time, but it was adequately preserved as well. Today, it is being run by the Historic New England as a historic house museum and gardens.
