Built in the late 1800s by the wealthy and prominent Benjamin Ames Kimball, the Kimball Castle is actually a real product of hard work and exemplification of the successes that the man has achieved in his life. It was built after he climbed the ladders of the Concord Railroad hierarchy and became a big boss in the company.
The Kimball Castle was built using materials from Germany and England that has traveled a lot through railroad. Two years was spent to finish the mansion, from 1897 to 1899. It featured spectacular views from its mountaintop location and well manicured gardens.
The Kimball Castle stayed with the family until the last heir died in 1960. The sad fortune of the mansion started here as the will?s provision to preserve the site was never really pushed through. However, efforts are now being planned to revive the building.
