The Dar Van Bunschooten House features rooms that are filled with period antiques with many of them coming from the original family who lived in it. Its main house was built originally in 1787 for Reverend Elias Van Bunschooten. Bunschooten, who, for about 40 years, served the Dutch Reformed Church.

Today, the house remains true to its original state even though it has undergone 4 to 5 ownerships and a big number of tenants. It is now listed on the National Register of Historic Sites and Places. All of its 10 rooms are available for viewing, together with the artifacts and furnishings that were used by the original family. These items date back from as far as 1787 to 1860. Some of them are clothing, woven coverlets, quilts, furniture, cookware and china, paintings, farm implements, and wagons.

Sitting on 6 acres of property, the Dar Van Bunschooten House also includes several outbuildings as well as a wagon house, a Greek Revival privy, and an ice house. All of these areas feature artifacts from the Museum?s collection.
