If you happen to be in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, you will likely be amazed at the number of antique houses that are located in here. And one of the most interesting that you probably would probably want to visit is the Proprietary House.

Built during the later part of the 18th century, the house served as the residence of the appointed Royal Governor of New Jersey, which happened to be Benjamin Franklin’s son William. The onset of the American Revolution, however, cut his stay in the house. Since then, the Proprietary House changed hands several times before finally being bought by the New Jersey State Government.

Today, the house serves as a museum, chronicling not only its history, but also of the city as well.
