The Alameda Park Zoo, established in 1898, is the oldest zoo in the southwest United States as well as the smallest among the accredited zoos of the Association of Zoo and Aquarium. The Zoo provides its visitors an aesthetically pleasing and naturalistic environment that promotes education on education, conservation of local and global governments, recreation, and biological research.

Occupying over 12 acres of property and featuring more than 250 exotic and indigenous animals, the Alameda Park Zoo houses its own education center, gift shop, restroom facilities, playground, and picnic area. The Zoo offers personal, group, and class tours for free provided that general admission is paid. These tours educate on the animals’ diet and habitat, give special insights on the animal collection, and many more. It also allows after-hour private rentals for company picnics, birthday parties, and reunions.

The Alameda Park Zoo is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free for children 2 years old and under, $1.50 for children 3 to 11 years old, $2.50 for 12 – 59 years old, and $1.50 for 60 years old and above.
