The Capulin Volcano National Monument is a US National Monument located in Des Moines, New Mexico. Its Visitor Center serves as a natural history museum, featuring exhibits about the area?s geology, as well as its natural and cultural history.

Designated as a National Monument in 1916, the Capulin Volcano National Monument is a relatively young volcano, only about 58,000 to 62,000 years old. One of the most outstanding landmarks of the state of New Mexico, the site offers exciting activities, including the opportunity to walk right into a volcano. Visitors are guided to trails that venture into the inside and encircle the rim of the Capulin Volcano.
