The City of Rocks State Park is a product of volcanic ash that has been expelled to the area and shaped by wind and gust over the span of thirty years. Today, it is the home of the interesting rock formations and scenery in New Mexico.
Ideal for walks, camping, hiking, picnicking, night sky and wildlife viewing, the City of Rocks State Park has once been the home of Mimbreno Indians from 350 to 1250 AD. Evidences like arrowheads, pottery, and other artifacts were found in the area.

The City of Rocks State Park was created in 1953. They have a lot of facilities and activities on site, so visitors can surely find a good number of things to do while here. Campers could also make reservations if they want to get a spot on the campsites with electricity.
