The Corralitos Observatory is an observatory and astronomical research facility in Las Cruces, New Mexico. It is a remote satellite station of Northwestern University’s Dearborn Observatory.
Dedicated in 1961, the Corralitos Observatory has a colorful history and heritage. Shortly after being dedicated, it became in wide use among students and amateur astronomers and enthusiasts. It was used largely in 1965 after a NASA program was launched in aims to detect TLP or transient lunar phenomenon. By 1966, a wide-angle camera was installed in the site. It was sponsored by Crysler and was a test model for a far ultraviolet camera that was being developed for the Apollo spacecraft. Several programs continued to be held at the Corralitos Observatory afterwards up until today.
