Held annually every autumn, the Fiestas de Santa Fe is one o the longest running celebrations in the US. It started in 1712 in celebration of the Spanish Reconquest of the city in 1692, through General Don Diego de Vargas.
The festivities of the Fiestas de Santa Fe lasts for three days. It consists of Novena masses (which lasts longer than the celebration), a reenactment of the Entrada or the entrance of de Vargas and his men to the city, a Historical/Hysterical parade, food booths, and the Children?s pet parade. The burning of the Zozobra also kicks off the festivities as well, serving as one of the top highlights of the celebration.
The Fiestas de Santa Fe usually happens around early September annually.
