The Governor Bent House Museum is a historic house museum in Taos, New Mexico. It is best noted for being the home of the first Governor of the state of New Mexico, Governor Charles Bent.
Originally a trader by profession, Charles Bent was actually a well respected and much loved figure of the Old West. He also had a hand at building Bent?s Fort in Colorado alongside his brother, William Bent and Ceran St. Vrain. He was appointed as Governor in 1846.
Also known as the Governor Charles Bent House, the Governor Bent House and Museum features memorabilia and Western art works. It is open to the public daily from 9 am to 5 pm during the summer months and 10 am to 4 pm on winter months.
