The Pancho Villa State Park is a state park in Columbus, New Mexico. It is best known for its relations to the historic Village of Columbus and Pancho Villa.
Part of a National Historic Landmark as per declaration in 1975, the Pancho Villa State Park is rich both in natural and historic elements. The site, being a part of the historic Village of Columbus, has a lot to do with Pancho Villa, and his ground invasion of Camp Furlong, a military post in the sleepy border town of Columbus, NM. Visitors today can still find a couple of historic structures like the camp?s Recreation Hall, a 1902 Customs House, and two adobe structures from the early 1900s. The invasion is the first and last armed raid of the continental US since the War of 1812.
