The Richard B. Dunn Solar Telescope is a well noted piece of equipment located inside the National Solar Observatory in Sacramento Peak, New Mexico. It is a unique vertical-axis solar telescope that is 356 feet tall.

Dubbed as the “world’s premier solar telescope”, the Richard B. Dunn Solar Telescope is named after its creator, Dr. Richard B. Dunn. Originally simply called as the Vacuum Tower Telescope at Sacramento Peak, it was renamed after the man in 1998 to honor its creator and recognize Dr. Dunn’s distinguished career and excellent contributions to science.
