The Brooklyn Bridge spans 486.3 meters and hangs over the East River connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn. It opened in 1883 and the first of its kind in the world. It is also one of the most antiquated suspension bridges in the United States. The Brooklyn Bridge was recognized as a National Historic Landmark in 1964 and in 1972, it was named as a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.

Today, it is one of the iconic structures in New York and has six lanes for automobiles and a separate in the center for pedestrians and bicycles. In 2001, thousands of people escaping Manhattan when the World Trade center was attached crowded the Brooklyn Bridge.

True to its landmark status, the Brooklyn Bridge has been used to in different movies such as Cloverfield, Sex and the City and Godzilla to name a few.
