The Cradle of Aviation Museum features a world-class collection of aircraft. It documents and preserved the history of aviation in Long Island through its exhibits of actual historic aircraft. It tells the story of the first flight in Long Island, the planes built by Grumman, a variety of hot air balloons, and many more.

The Museum?s glass-and-steel building houses a Grumman F-11 Tiger, which is the first supersonic jet of the Navy. It hangs from the ceiling among the other historic aircraft. There is also an exhibit depicting the first attempts to defy gravity using hot air balloons and kites. The World War Gallery includes the Curtiss JN-4 ?Jenny,? which is one of the most popular planes of the era.

The other galleries include the Golden Age of Flight, featuring a sister airplane to Lindbergh?s Spirit of St. Louis, the Jet Age, showing the commercial airports on Long Island, and the Space Exploration, featuring a Grumman Lunar Module LM-13 that was built in Bethpage in 1972. The Museum houses its very own IMAX Dome Theater which shows films every day.
