The Dahesh Museum of Art is the one and only institution in the county that is devoted to the collection, exhibition, and interpretation of the works by Europe’s academically trained artists of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The Dahesh welcomes a wide variety of guests by positioning the artists in the broader context of the 19th-century visual culture. The Museum also offers a fresh appraisal of the role that academies play in the reinvigoration of the classical ideals of beauty, skill, and humanism.

The Museum’s collection consists of paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, photographs, and books that were written by the most popular 19th-century and early 20th-century European artists like Barye, Bouguereau, Cabanel, Leighton, Troyon, and Vernet. Even today, this collection continues to grow as the Museum continues to acquire new pieces.
