The Frick Museum, which is also known as The Frick Collection or Frick NYC, was established when Pittsburgh magnate Henry Clay Frick passed away in 1919. Frick’s will had given away his outstanding art collection as well as residence in NYC to create an art gallery open to the public.

The Fricks Collection is comparable to that of the MOMA or Whitney Museum with its range and rarity. Besides more than a hundred drawings, there were also prints and sculptures as well as decorative objects such as rugs, porcelains, silverware, and furniture. Over the years, trustees of the collection had been able to acquire additional works of art for the public’s benefit. By 1995, the Frick Collection already served as permanent home to over a thousand works of arts spanning from the Renaissance period and all the way to the late 1800’s.
