The New York Public Library (NYPL) isn?t just a tourist attraction but is considered as one of United States? most significant libraries. Not only known as one of the biggest public library in America, NYPL is also one of the biggest and most extensive research libraries in the planet. Currently, the New York Public Library has 87 sub-libraries: 4 lending, 4 non-lending, a library for handicaps and 77 branch libraries. To sum up all items from its branches, from books, maps and videotapes, its collection will exceed over 50 million items which is the third largest library in North America, with Library of Congress and British Library at the top.


Major highlights of New York Public Library includes its astonishing architecture, the renowned reading room on the third level, the complex oak carvings at the ceiling, the couple of lions at the grand stairways and the great Astor Hall.
