The Averasboro Civil War Battlefield Museum is a local history museum in Dunn, North Carolina. It tells of the story of the Battle of Averasboro, which was the first intentional tactical resistance against the infamous march through Georgia and the Carolinas of the Federal forces.
The Battle of Averasboro took place in March 15, 1865 in the plantation lands of the John Smith family. The Confederate troops attacked a group of Union troops, but in the end, reinforcements arrived and the Confederates were outnumbered and suffered major losses.
The Averasboro Civil War Battlefield Museum features the very area where the battle took place. There are memorabilia, historical items and replicas on display, as well as historic markers outlining the events of the Battle of Averasboro.
