The Avery County Historical Museum is a historic museum in Newland, North Carolina. It focuses on local history and tradition, with displays centered on the locale’s railroad history, Civil War, and local country music.

Housed in the 1913 old Avery County Jail, the Avery County Historical Museum is an excellent source of local tradition and lore. The museum used the property since 1976, a couple of years after the county stopped using it as a public building.

The Avery County Historical Museum features tons of artifacts that relate to the county’s history. They have displays about the East Tennessee and Western North Carolina Railroad, the country starts Lulu Belle and Scotty Wiseman who are from the area, and Civil War artifacts.
