Known as the largest house in America, this enormous home was designed after three 16th century chateaus from France. Owned and built by George Vanderbilt, the Biltmore Estate stands on a 125,000-acre land and served as his private retreat in the country. It was constructed for over 6 years by craftsmen who enjoyed the in-house brick plant, wood shop and a railway that was used to transfer materials to the building site. It has 250 rooms, 65 fireplaces and 43 bathrooms. Vanderbilt lived here with his wife and daughter until the 1900s.

Today, the estate is open to the public where you can enjoy the winery, spend a night in the inn and take part in a variety of outdoor activities. This majestic manor holds the title as one of the top architectural creations in America and houses a beautiful garden created by the same man who designed the Central Park in New York, Frederick Law Olmsted.
