Travelling and seeing sights in the United States, it helps to have a bird’s eye view. You can’t see much from a plane or a travelling vehicle. Would you consider a lighthouse? The Cape Hatteras Light is the tallest lighthouse in the United States and is one of the very few originals remaining. Located in Hatteras Island in North Carolina, this one particular lighthouse attracts hundreds of tourists each day. Constructed as guiding beacon due to the colliding currents in the Atlantic Ocean, this lighthouse was built sometime in 1869 and is one of the few lighthouses today still operational in America. At 200 feet high and 23rd tallest in the world, Cape Hatteras Light has significantly reduced the amount of collisions and shipwrecks over the past century. Formerly restricted to the public, the lighthouse is now open for sightseeing after due construction and repairs from time’s ravages. Tourists can even ascend to the twelve story high top of the Cape Hatteras Light and catch a glimpse of oceans and cities around them.
