The Caswell Center Museum and Visitor Center is a very unique and outstanding venue in Kinston, North Carolina. It chronicles and features the history of the Caswell Developmental Center, the first developmental disability facility in the state.

Tracing the past of the Caswell Developmental Center from its inception in 1911 and opening in 1914, the Caswell Center Museum and Visitor Center tells of institutional life of the early 1900s to the present day. The site features a wide range of information and artifacts that will show visitors the amount of progress that the field has achieved through the years. It also tells of the center’s relation to the entire history of Kinston and Lenoir County, as well as of the entire North Carolina.
