The Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum is a history museum in Gibsonville, North Carolina. It is best noted for being the only state supported historic site that recognizes a woman. It is also known for being one of the first facilities of the sort to honor an African American.
Charlotte Hawkins Brown is best known for her achievements with the Palmer Memorial Institute. Dr. Brown established the school, which served as a nationally recognized preparatory school for upper class African American.
