The Earl Scruggs Center is a developing museum in Shelby, North Carolina. It is also known officially as the Earl Scruggs Center: Music & Stories of the Carolina Foothills.
The Earl Scruggs Center is basically a tribute and a way of honoring Earl Scruggs, the world renowned banjo player. Scruggs is best known for his development of an exceptional 3-finger playing style that has proven to be influential all over the planet. Aside from sharing the life and talent of Earl Scruggs, the center also aims to become a model in promoting cultural tourism, community understanding, and regional pride in the area.
The Earl Scruggs Center is housed in the historic Cleveland County Courthouse. It is still a work in progress, although updates are always available at Destination Cleveland’s website.
