The Fayetteville Area Transportation Museum is a history museum in Fayetteville, North Carolina. It features the building wherein the museum is housed, the historic 1890 Cape Fear and Yadkin Valley Railroad Company depot and tells of the history of transportation in the area.
The Cape Fear and Yadkin Valley Railroad Company opened in the city in 1879 when the former Western Railroad reorganized. Like other rail lines in the country, it helped the locale grow and develop for connecting it easier with other areas.
This is why looking at the area?s history of transportation is quite a great thing to do, as it really did have a great impact on the area. The Romanesque Revival depot building now houses a large number of displays about the Cumberland County?s transportation past from the Native American times to the mid-1900s.
