The Hickory Ridge Homestead is a recreated 18th century mountain home. It shows visitors how the early settlers live like, recreating the small mountain community atmosphere that was the beginning of almost every town and city in the country. They feature demonstrations on weaving, hearthside cooking, and arts and crafts. There are also a number of hands-on opportunities for kids and adults, adding more fun to the experience.

Created in 1980, the Hickory Ridge Homestead was established as a part of the Horn in the West outdoor drama, allowing the site to cover more areas in their attempts to share history to the public in a very engaging way.
