The Ivey Arboretum is a local arboretum in Hickory, North Carolina. It is a part of the historic Carolina Park, transformed in 1936 into a wonderful plant haven.

When the Carolina Park was founded in 1909, a lot of efforts have been exerted to transform it from being a snake breeding swamp to a place of rest, safety, and relaxation. The Women?s Civic League alongside with the Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs enacted projects to transform it to a real park. However, it was not until the local businessman George Ivey decided to help out in 1934 that the Ivey Arboretum will be born. It was through this man?s initiative to plant various plant species in the area that the site became what it is today.

The three acre Ivey Arboretum is now open regularly to the public. Tours are available regularly.
