Built in 1879, the James C. Dowd House is a historic home in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was built by James C. Dowd, a former captain of the North Carolina 45th Regiment during the Civil War. He built this house after the war when he moved to the area with his first wife.

The James C. Dowd House became more historical a couple of decades later during the World War I. The Victorian home was used at the time as a headquarters for the US Army at the military training base, Camp Greene. After the war, it was turned into a private residence again.

Today, the James C. Dowd House is open to the public. It is furnished and decked with exhibits that tell of its role during the First World War.
