The center features about 2000 books, 300 maps and atlases, 50,000 photographs, 400 private collection titles and documents, and 800 reels of microfilm. There are also a good deal of local history materials, genealogy, and biography.

The Johnston County Heritage Center is open year round on Mondays through Saturdays except on holidays.
