The Johnston County Heritage Center is a history center in Smithfield, North Carolina. The site is mostly a research center more than anything else. In fact, it is popular for being one of the best equipped facilities in the United States if you’re looking into studying local history and genealogy.

The Johnston County Heritage Center is a repository of detailed information, granting researchers access to a good deal of details that can’t be found elsewhere. The center features about 2000 books, 300 maps and atlases, 50,000 photographs, 400 private collection titles and documents, and 800 reels of microfilm. There are also a good deal of local history materials, genealogy, and biography.

The Johnston County Heritage Center is open year round on Mondays through Saturdays except on holidays.
