Linville Caverns is the sole underground cave found in North Carolina. It is perfectly set under the picturesque Humpback Mountain. This underground maze attributes its beauty to several centuries of slow moving water unconsciously used by nature to carve this masterpiece.

Found in the 1800?s by a group of men who were baffled after seeing swimming fishes that seemed to be coming from the mountain. The expedition was led by Henry E. Colton and they were successful to have found the underground cave that is now called Linville Caverns. Since its discovery, a lot of studies have been conducted to know the cave?s history, biology and geology. Until today, there are still lots of mysteries to be unveiled.

The Linville Caverns was launched for tours in 1937. Lighting and pathways were installed and developed through the years to ensure that the area is safe for the touring public.
