Located inside the famous city park known as the West Point on the Eno is the McCown-Mangum House. It is a historic structure built in the 1840s.

The McCown-Mangum House is a Greek revival farmhouse that was once owned by Presley J. Mangum, an early Durham postmaster. He wanted to escape the growing town so they settled on the site, which was on the outskirts of town back in the days. The Mangum family owned and occupied the property until 1968.

Filled with 19th century style furniture and antique items from the Mangum family, the McCown-Mangum House is quite a stop. There?s also a pretty garden around the house created by the Mangums.
The McCown-Mangum House is available for rent, may it be for weddings, receptions, or other types of gatherings.
