The Mount Airy Museum of Regional History tells the story of the development of the community of Mount Airy. It is located in an area that used to be known as “The Hollows.” The Museum works toward the collection, preservation, and interpretation of the natural, artistic, and historic heritage of the region.

The permanent collection details the story of the area and how it evolved into thriving communities that preserve much of its history and culture. It narrates how the people in the area helped settlements transform into prosperous communities, towns, and cities.

Its displays cover the Granite Quarry, the Saura Indians, the Great Wagon Road, the Firehouse, the Andy Griffith Heritage, Hotels of the Blue Ridge, the Log Cabin, and many more.
