It is a fact that the coastal region of the state of North Carolina is riddled with nautical mystery and maritime history. This is why the field is such a big hit among visitors that most of them flock to wherever topics as such are being tackled.

This is also by there are numerous North Carolina Maritime Museums in the area. One of which, located in Beaufort, and is commonly known as the North Carolina Maritime Museum at Beaufort, offers a massive amount of information about local history and maritime tradition. The highlight of this museum, however, is the notorious story of the pirate, Blackbeard, and his ship, the Queen Anne?s Revenge. Queen Anne?s Revenge ran aground in the Beaufort Inlet in 1718, and was only found in 1996. In June 2011, the shipwreck will be exhibited at the museum, along with several other curiosities and educational displays.
