The Octagon House is a historic structure in Engelhard, North Carolina. It is quite a curiosity, like many other ?round houses? in the country.
The thing about the Octagon House is that it is just one of the two of such buildings that was built in North Carolina in the 19th century. It was originally owned by Dr. William Sparrow, who is known for his eccentricity. Completed in 1857, the house was also called as ?the Inkwell?. It has six rooms and a central chimney, but no posts, except for windows and doors. It is truly a rare gem, which is why restoring it is such a great touch.
Today, the Octagon House is open for tours and rentals for parties and such events.
