The Preserve Elmwood Pinewood Cemetery is a historic cemetery in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was established in 1853 as a 100-acre plot to serve as a burial ground in the city of Charlotte.

Like many historic cemeteries in the country, the Preserve Elmwood Pinewood Cemetery carries history in them. It was known as the Elmwood Pinewood Cemetery as a result of combining the two previously separated sections of the site. The Pinewood Cemetery was the segregated African American cemetery, while the Elmwood Cemetery was for the whites. There was also the Potter?s Field, the pauper?s cemetery. It also became a site in a significant Civil Rights Movement event in the 1960s.

Today, the Preserve Elmwood Pinewood Cemetery stands as a reminder of the cultural history of the area. Walking tours are available regularly.
