The Wilmington Railroad Museum is a historic museum in Wilmington, North Carolina. It tells the local heritage of the city through its railroading past, with the Wilmington & Weldon Railroad once being the longest continuous rail line in the planet with its 161 miles.
The Wilmington Railroad Museum was established sometime in the late 1970s, a decade or so after the ACL or the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad decided to move its headquarters to Jacksonville, Florida. The ACL has run the railway since before the turn of the century. They erected the Wilmington Railroad Museum building.
The Wilmington Railroad Museum now offers a wide range of displays and exhibits telling of the area?s history and its railroading past. The site also offers several other attractions that the whole family will surely enjoy.
