The Wright Tavern is a historic structure in Wentworth, North Carolina. It was built in 1816, but traces its history earlier than its construction.

The Wright Tavern traces its roots back to 1783, when James Wright was licensed to operate a tavern in his dwelling, which was on the Haw River, not in the current location. It was only his son, William, who truly established the current structure in 1816 when he moved to Wentworth, shortly after the town was founded. The tavern was operated for a century by William?s descendants, until the 1920s.

Today, the Wright Tavern is open for tours every Thursdays and Fridays from 10 am until 4 in the afternoon. You can also schedule appointments on other days.
