The YMI Cultural Center is a historic landmark in Asheville, North Carolina. It features the Tudor-style structure located in the downtown area that was built in the 19th century by African American construction workers who also did work on the famous Biltmore Estate.

The YMI Cultural Center has always served as the social and economic center of the city?s African American community. It was established in 1893 by the Young Men?s Institute thus the name and significant role in the Black community.

The YMI Cultural Center currently serves as a primary venue where folks can learn about the history and heritage of the local African American community. It houses exhibits and events that celebrate the rich past and history of the community.
