The Dakota Square Mal first opened in 1980 and was formerly owned by Jones Lang LaSalle. It is the largest mall in North Dakota with an area of 62,700 square meters and is home to a number of restaurants and specialty shops such as Victoria?s Secret, Barnes & Noble, Old Navy, Eddie Bauer, American Eagle, Bath & Body Works, Target, Sears, JC Penny, and Scheels All Sports. All in all, the mall has 4 major anchor stores, more than 70 specialty stores, a nine-screen cinema, and a food court.

Interestingly enough, the mall also hosts a hotel, the Sleep Inn & Suites, which features the Splashdown Dakota Super Slides, a 2,200 square meter water park. As of 2005, the ownership of the mall belongs to The Lightstone Group.
