Managed by the state of North Dakota, the Double Ditch Indian Village State Historic Site is one of the most important historic areas in the state. It is believed to be the home of the Mandan Indians for around 300 years, from 1490 to 1785.

When visiting the Double Ditch Indian Village State Historic Site, you can find remnants and traces of history all around. There are the remains of the earthlodges and refuse mounds. There are also some fortification ditches that are pretty visible. There are also a couple of interactive signs that can help visitors get the most out of the area.

The Double Ditch Indian Village State Historic Site is still currently being developed. Trails for bikes and hikers are being planned.
