Fort Buford is located right near the Williston of the western side of North Dakota along the Montana border. This is where the Sitting Bull gave up himself back in 1881 right after returning to the US from Canada. The entire Fort Buford State Historic Site went through proper restoration and has about three of the buildings that were still of the original days.

It also houses an onsite museum near the Fort cemetery. It has regular facilities that are meant for tourists including picnic sites for families to enjoy. Fort Buford would always serve as one of the military posts that serve as protection to the routes of the immigrants in the overland and river that were all staying in the West.
