The North Dakota Museum of Art was established in the 1970?s and has one of the finest collections of contemporary Native American Art, which also emerged in the same decade the museum was founded. Other types of art and other genres, however, are also displayed at the museum.

Also available at the site are the Museum Shop and the Museum Cafe & Coffee Shop. At the gift shop, visitors may enjoy browsing unique ethnic and modern souvenir items, which include everything from jewelry to crafts to works of art. The shop sells postcards, children?s books, and museum posters as well. At the museum?s cafe, full luncheons are served on weekdays, with the menu changing every two weeks. The museum?s cafe accept reservations for High Tea as well as take out and call-in orders. They may also be used for catering services if guests are interested in renting out the museum?s conference room.
